There is nothing that says ~country~ better than old rusty tractor or, better yet, a nice, shiny, working tractor! I have always loved tractors. I remember when I was little enough to think I was accomplishing some great feat by climbing up one rear tire and jumping into the seat before my brother did. Then pretending to drive it through some bumpy field as I bounced in place and yelled at my brother to hold on! Yes, I was a little ornery, but we were playing anyway.
I'm older now, which isn't very old, just old enough to keep me from playing on tractors! :) They are still my favorite piece of machinery, though. You should see some of the looks I get when I express my desire to have a tractor some day. Or I explain the difference between Farmall and John Deere. I think it's funny, that people think I'm funny for not being the stereotypical teenage, baptist girl. I just really like tractors. After all, they're good for far more than just childhood memories. They start interesting conversations, save huge amounts of time on some farm chores, make good magazines and magazine articles, and are a useful thing to collect. That is, if your in to collecting.
Chainsaws are the only thing that hold as much value to me as tractors, but that's a whole different set of recollections!
